Thesis: Enhancing Ghanaian kindergarten teachers’ implementation of indigenous play-based pedagogy through a professional development programme
Research supervisor: Dr. Judy Van Heerden

My study which employs a cultural-historical theoretical framework aims at finding out whether a professional development programme of indigenous play-based pedagogy will enhance Ghanaian kindergarten teachers’ implementation of the curriculum. The study seeks to impart kindergarten teachers with the relevant knowledge, skills and attitudes for delivering the kindergarten curriculum. The topics for the school, particularly, the one relating to solving pedagogical problems in education, are of great relevance to my study and I believe the knowledge, attitude and skills that I will acquire during this school will help impact my study in particular and career as a whole. I also hope to form network with participants with whom I share common interest to undertake joint projects and possible publications. Overall, I see this summer school as an avenue to broaden my knowledge and sharpen my research skills.
